Our Wednesday Warriors
You may have heard of a unique group of tireless,
unpaid volunteers cruising the Immanuel campus and doing odd
jobs every Wednesday ...
The ILS students call them the
"Wednesday Warriors" and this steady, goal-driven bunch, led by
chief Warrior Jerry Begley (who's also chair of the Board for
Property Management), has done great things since organizing in
late 2010. We thought you might like to see what they've done,
so
here's a look at the names of the Warriors and the impressive
list of all they've accomplished
We salute these past
and present Warriors, and we hope you do, too.
When you
see one, take a minute and say "Thanks for all you do to make
our church and school home a better place."

The LCMS Reacts to the
Birth Control Mandate
Missouri Synod President Matthew C. Harrison
was one of several religious leaders who testified at the recent House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's
hearing, "Lines Crossed: Separation of Church and State. Has
the Obama Administration Trampled on Freedom of Religion and
Freedom of Conscience?"
President Harrison has issued two letters to the church
about the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' recent
mandate that health plans must cover all forms of birth control,
which the LCMS opposes because it includes birth control
products that can cause the death of a baby developing in the
womb. The statements, a video message, press release and
media coverage about this issue can be found at
http://www.lcms.org/hhsmandate.
You can also read the
text of President Harrison's earlier response
here.
Please pray for our country's leaders that they
will make wise decisions on this issue, wise decisions that give
glory and honor to our heavenly Father who has deemed all life
precious.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS)
objects to the use of drugs and procedures that are used to take
the lives of unborn children, who are persons in the sight of
God from the time of conception.
We Stand On Christ, the Solid Rock The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teaches and responds to
the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists;
Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins
of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory
over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through
God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal
and coeternal, one God.
Being "Lutheran,"
our congregations accept and teach Bible-based teachings of
Martin Luther that inspired the
reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century.
The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three
short phrases:
Grace alone, Faith alone,
Scripture alone.
